Lara Croft

 

Toby Gard, creator of Lara Croft and lead designer on Tomb Raider Legend, comments on Lara's new model as "a natural evolution. We're now using close to 10,000 polygons, so we're able to make her look much more realistic. She even gets wet when she goes into water, and she gets dirty if she rolls around in filthy tombs long enough."

 

It has been confirmed that Angelina Jolie will NOT voice Lara in TRL. Current opinion favours previous Lara Croft voice Jonell Elliot or a new voice completely.

 

Storyline

 

Toby Gard describes Tomb raider Legend as a "completely new start for Lara." Lara Croft will be searching for a valuable English artefact, pursued by corrupt forces led by an old nemesis long thought dead and buried. Many aspects of Lara's history will be addressed in Tomb Raider Legend, including an incident which occurred in the Himalayas.

 

Moves

 

Lara will be more athletic than ever before! Rope swinging, bar swinging, climbing, crawling, jumping and shooting, swan diving, swimming are just a tiny sample of moves seen so far. Crystal Dynamics has hinted at acrobatics on par with Prince of Persia.

 

Combat is going to be more involved in TRL than ever before. The shooting is still automatic, but with a clever twist. From time to time, an icon will show that Lara's locked onto an explosive barrel or a rope that she can blast with a simple tap of a button.

 

Certain screen shots have also shown Lara being able to dodge enemy gunfire. During combat, Lara can perform the following actions: crouch, reload, melee attack, fire blind, take aim, throw grenades and switch weapons.

 

From reports so far, it appears that stealth could potentially play a role in TRL. Lara can be seen performing a solid snake style crouch in some screen shots, hinting that you can perhaps kill enemies without alerting them.

 

Lara's enemies will be smarter than ever. Enemies will respond to the ever-changing combat situation in intelligent ways, such as moving to flank Lara when she is pinned down, dodging grenades, and calling for backup. Swimming appears confirmed from an article in an Xbox magazine. However, the exact mechanics attached to swimming is currently unknown.

 

Weapons and Equipment

 

Lara will have her trademark double pistols at her side. In addition, frag grenades, machine gun turrets, a shotgun, revolver, RPG and automatic weapons have all been confirmed to return. Lara wears all her equipment on her body (no more infinite backpack). When you use a grenade, it disappears off her belt. In addition to her pistols and grenades, Lara can only carry one weapon at a time which she can pick up from fallen enemies.

 

A magnetic grappling hook can be used to swing over pits of spikes and in other puzzle situations. Other equipment includes flares, binoculars, a torch and a Bluetooth headset, used to keep in touch with the 2 man team back at Croft Manor via picture-in-picture video.

 

Locations

 

There are 8 location confirmed for the game. Levels known so far include: Ghana, West Africa, Russia, Bolivia, Peru, Malaysia / Kuala Lumpur and Tokyo. A underwater level was recently revealed in an Xbox magazine, but it is currently unknown to which location this level belongs.

 

A recently released piece of concept art has revealed statues strongly resembling art from Mesopotamia, an area with strong Arabian characteristics.

 

Vehicles

 

The only vehicle confirmed so far is the super-bike which is hinted to be the main vehicle in the game. However, the game will contain a number of other vehicles yet to be confirmed.

 

Game Mechanics

 

Puzzles will now be more physics based and open-ended, with multiple ways for Lara to solve them. The developers have modernised the puzzles by dumping the traditional (and dated) key and switch puzzles of old. The game is said to have a great physics system, with Lara having to utilise all her equipment (and weight) to solve complex puzzles.

 

The game uses a modified 'defiance' engine, previously used in games like LOK: Defiance and Project Snowblind. The game has no loading times and is a completely seamless experience. This is because the engine puts all the memory of each console on screen, if you don't see it, it is being dumped out of memory.

 

The game has a "softness filter" which smoothes out angular edges and takes care of aliasing. Small touches like dynamic lighting, real-time water and fire effects, insects buzzing, birds flying, rainbows, waterfalls, dirt, cob webs and ivy all add to the realism experience of raiding a tomb. The result is an amazing looking game.

 

The revamped control system provides intuitive and fluid character movement. Dynamic animation system puts focus on continuous motion, giving Lara the ability to seamlessly handle any obstacle and interact dynamically with any surface. Prince of Persia control system is one of great inspiration for Crystal Dynamics.

 

Unlike previous TRs, this game is not built on a grid based system which allows greater freedom of movement and no nonsense jumping. The camera system have been given a major overhaul and will always move to give the player the best possible view. However, players will still be able to manipulate the camera any way they wish.

 

It has been confirmed that NO innovations from The Angel Of Darkness, including the strength upgrades and Kurtis, will appear in TRL. This chapter is regarded as a fresh start for the franchise.

 

Release Date

 

Winter 2005 / Early 2006

 

Formats

 

PS2, PC, Xbox, Xbox 360. While all versions will fundamentally be the same, Toby Gard has confirmed that the Xbox and PC versions of the game will have higher-resolution textures, a higher frame rate and faster load times.

 

There will also be widescreen support for the XBox version. Toby Gard has also confirmed the Xbox version will "support a jukebox function which will be fun in Croft Manor. You'll basically be able to play a stereo when training."

Estamos usando ahora cerca de 10.000 poligonos,por lo tanto estamos capacitados para hacer su figura mucho mas realista.

Incluso se queda mojada cuando va al agua y se ensucia si ella rueda mucho tiempo en las sucias tumbas.

 

Ha sido confirmado que Angelina Jolie ,no dara su voz para Lara en TRL.

La actual opinion favorecio previamente la voz de Jonell Elliot o una completamente nueva.

 

ARGUMENTO

 

 

 

Toby Gard,describe TRL,como un "completamente nuevo comienzo para Lara".

Lara Croft,buscara por un valorable artefacto Ingles,perseguido por corruptas fuerzas lideradas por un viejo adversario creido muerto,y enterrado.

Muchos aspectos de la historia de Lara seran DEVELADAS en TRL,incluyendo el incidente en el Himalaya.

MOVIMIENTOS

 

Lara sera mas atletica que nunca! Balanceandose en cuerdas,en barras,escalando,saltando y disparando,NADANDO,el nado es solo un pequeno ejemplo de donde han ido los movimientos.

Crisatl Dinamic,lo ha comparado con el Principe de Persia.

 

Los combates seran mas desenvueltos que nunca,el disparo es automatico,pero con un pequeno cambio, de tiempo en tiempo,un ICONO mostrara a Lara que puede hacer blanco en un barril de explosivos,o una cuerda que ella toque con el simple golpe a una tecla.

 

Ciertas imagenes muestran a Lara ,capaz de eludir el fuego del enemigo.

Durante el combate ,puede rendir las siguientes acciones:Agacharse,recargar,ataque grupal,fuego ciego,tomar punteria,lanzar granadas,y cambiar de armas.

 

Los enemigos de Lara,seran mas inteligentes que nunca.

Responderan a cada combate de inteligentes maneras,como poniendose a flanco de Lara cuando ella este agachada.

Eludiran granadas y llamaran por apoyo.

 

El nado aparece confirmado en una revidta de XboX.COMO SEA, los exactos mecanismos consernientes al nado,son desconocidos!

Llevara el equipamiento en el cuerpo,chau mochila y el dispositivo para comunicarse a la mansion.

Por ahora solo confirmada la moto,pero contiene otros aun por confirmar.

No Maitena,dice que el uso de la camara ,como en los demas TR's usando la tecla ( 0),sera mas amplia para poder dar una mejor vision al jugador,mire donde mire.
