June 16, 2006 - Rebellion, the developer of the Rogue Trooper game, has reached an agreement with SCi Entertainment Group to purchase the staff and physical assets of Core Design.
SCi had recently gained ownership of Eidos Interactive, which had owned Core Studios since 1996. According to Rebellion, Core will be re-named and continue to work with Eidos on a "new project." Eidos will also retain the Core Design name and all IPs.
Core was the creator of the acclaimed Tomb Raider series, but Eidos took the Tomb Raider franchise away from Core Design after the sixth installment, Tomb Raider: The Angel of Darkness, was met with commercial failure. The franchise was given to Crystal Dynamics, another Eidos-owned studio.
Jason Kingsley, CEO and Creative Director of Rebellion said, "Core is one of the UK industry's major success stories and we're delighted to have completed the deal with Eidos. With Next-Gen development upon us now, and publisher requirements changing, this studio's deep and experienced talent allows us to continue to compete at a global level."
supongo que ya lo habremos visto pero por si acaso...
